These terms apply to this website and visits to Harbor Hex in Dunedin. They explain how the venue operates and how to contact us about a problem.
Visiting and joining games
Entry, board games, the Casino Room and organised games or tournaments are free. There is no time charge, table charge, membership fee, required purchase, minimum spend or deposit. Food and non-alcoholic drinks are sold separately at the published final NZD prices. A purchase does not affect access to games or participation conditions.
Ordinary board-game visits, roulette and Casino Bingo do not need advance registration. Advance requests are recommended for organised events. A form submission is an enquiry: a place or special arrangement is confirmed only when a member of staff replies. There is no automatic reservation or exclusive room hire. Please let us know if agreed plans change.
The programme repeats weekly during usual opening hours. Event windows are planned intervals, not guaranteed durations for individual games. Contact us to check arrangements for public holidays or a particular date.
Casino Room rules
The Casino Room is for in-person entertainment. The venue’s internal minimum age for this room is 20. This is a house rule, not a statement of a statutory casino entry age. All games on this website take place at the venue; the site has no online play, wallet, deposits or withdrawals.
- No one may stake money, property or anything of value, including in private arrangements between guests. Staff will stop such arrangements.
- There are no cash winnings or prizes of material value. This includes goods, food, drinks, discounts, gift certificates and benefits with exchange value.
- Playing chips and points are issued free solely for the game and determining its result. They are not sold, redeemed, bought back or exchanged for anything of value.
- Purchasing food or drink does not change chip allocation, results or conditions of play.
Staff may pause a game or end someone’s participation when these rules are broken or another person’s safety or enjoyment is affected. Raise concerns with staff rather than trying to settle them through a private arrangement.
Behaviour and alcohol
Treat other guests, staff and equipment with care. Listen when rules are explained, respect other players’ turns and ask for help with a disagreement. Do not damage or remove game components.
Alcohol is prohibited throughout the venue: it cannot be ordered, brought in or consumed. People who are intoxicated are not admitted.
Food, ingredients and consumer rights
Ask staff about ingredients before ordering if you have an allergy or dietary need. Ingredient labels do not guarantee the absence of cross-contact. Tell us promptly if a purchase is not as described or has a problem so that it can be addressed.
Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act or the Fair Trading Act. Any remedy depends on the circumstances and applicable consumer rights; there is no blanket “no refunds” rule.
Website use and changes
Use the enquiry form for genuine questions and arrangements. Do not submit harmful content, attempt to interfere with the service or misuse someone else’s contact details. Publisher links provide additional game information and do not imply a partnership.
We may update information or future arrangements, but do not reserve a right to change an already agreed arrangement retrospectively without discussion. If information appears inconsistent, contact us before relying on it.
